Aloha!
On your arrival to the Honolulu International Airport, you will be
greeted with the sweet aroma of lei.
However when you leave the airport you will encounter the stink smell
of cars........lots of cars!
This is the one dark secret kept about Oahu, it has
way too many cars! It is not something that is promoted, however we
will warn you. If you arrive during rush hour it will be like any
other major city in America!
Now that you have been warned there are ways to avoid
dealing with this "reality"! First plan to arrive either
before or after rush hours on weekdays 7am-9am and 3pm-6pm, if possible.
Also when you arrive in Hawaii, you will learn that we don't want
any creatures from other parts of the world, snakes in particular,
since we don't have any snakes here!
Waikiki is about 1/2 hr. from the airport on a normal
day, Northshore is an hour away usually.
At the airport you will find many businesses ready to
help you out or sell you something unique!
The lei stands are very nice and will not be found anywhere else on
the island with such a variety!
One very important thing about arriving in Hawaii............your
not on the Mainland anymore.........please leave the fast pace of
the world outside of Hawaii at the airport! Slow down and enjoy Paradise!
